Picture looking into a purple eye: your third eye, the seat of intuition. At its centre, your green heart chakra opens like a blossoming twelve-petalled lotus. Within each petal lives an energy point with two polarities.

This heart is a portal. From within it radiates a golden light, which is God. Its rays draw inward and flow back out, breathing life into all of existence.

Quietly hidden around that light is a six-pointed stargate: two interlocking triangles, one pointing up and one pointing down. They are the masculine and feminine energies, united as one with god.

Our Name: The Unstruck Sound

Anahata is the Sanskrit name for the heart chakra, and it means unstruck. Every sound we hear comes from two things striking together; even your voice is air striking your vocal cords. So what sound is not made by striking? It is OM: the vibration of the universe’s energy, of which all things are manifestations. It is not heard with the ears but felt in stillness, through the heart, the doorway where we meet it. When we chant OM aloud, we tune in to that vibration.

The golden light is God as light, and OM is God as the cosmic vibration, the root of all sound. It is the breath of the universe, the energy beneath all forms, and every word is a fragment of it, just as every form is a fragment of the form of forms.
